The Race:

The 1990 Paris-Roubaix was 265.5 km long and raced at an average speed of 34.855 km/hr

There were 186 starters and 92 classified finishers.

Eddy Planckaert attacked with nearly 95 kilometers remaining.

Over the next 60 kilometers six riders left an unmotivated peloton and bridged up to him.

The final sprint between Steve Bauer and Planckaert was so close it took the judges several minutes to study the finish photo before they could award the race to Planckaert.
