2012 Gent - Wevelgem (World Tour), Belgium

Ghent - Wevelgem (English), Gand - Wevelgem (French)

74th edition: Sunday, March 25, 2012

Gent-Wevelgem podium history | 2011 Edition | 2013 edition | Photos

Deinze (just outside Gent) - Wevelgem, 235.4 km / 42.376 km/hr
195 starters /158 classified finishers/ 37 abandons

The Race: There was a big split. It was the Kemmelberg that made the final selection. Mark Cavendish went well up towards the front, but a gap was opened on the descent and Cavendish (and a lot of others) couldn't get down the hill fast enough and never saw the front group again. More photos below results.

2012 finish

Tom Boonen is the first of a big group to win the 2012 Gent-Wevelgem
