Story of the Tour de France

2009 Tour de France
July 4 - July 26, 2009

Pictures from Fotoreporter Sirotti for Stage 13, Friday, July 17: Vittel - Colmar, 200 km

Back to 2009 Tour Page.

Heinrich Haussler took chances on the wet roads and beat the pack by over 6 minutes.
The first chaser in was Amets Txurruka (Euskaltel), 4min 11sec later.
Peter Velits (Milram), on the left, won the field sprint. Thor Hushovd's sixth place for the day was good enough to put him back in the green jersey. Mark Cavendish finished 118th, @ 20min 21sec.
Franco Pellizotti snagged enopugh climbing points today to take the polka dots from Egoi Martinez.
Only 5 points separate Hushovd and Cavendish in the points classification. Tomorrow should be fun. With only two Category 3 climbs and those in the middle of the stage, Cavendish should be able hang in and duke it out with big Thor. For added spice there are 3 intermediate sprints along the way.
