Story of the Tour de France

2008 Tour de France
July 5 - July 27, 2008

Pictures from Fotoreporter Sirotti from Stage 17, Wednesday, July 23: Embrun - L'Alpe-d'Huez, 210.5 km

With Sastre 2 minutes up the L'Alpe d'Huez, Cadel Evans realized he would have to hit the front and minimize his losses. Valverde is on his wheel followed by Andy and Frank Schleck.
Sastre took off near the bottom and by the time he reached the top of L'Alpe d'Huez, he was in Yellow.
The crowds were huge and the weather was perfect for a bike race.
Sastre has a 1 minute 34 second lead over Evans. Is that enough to carry him through Saturday's time trial?
