Story of the Tour de France

2008 Tour de France
July 5 - July 27, 2008

Pictures by Fotoreporter Sirotti from Stage 5, Wednesday July 9: Cholet - Châteauroux, 232 km

Stefan Schumacher at the day's start. Gerolsteiner didn't go for the fancy yellow kit, gloves, shorts, booties, glasses, etc. Just a jersey and helmet.
French Champion Nicolas Vogondy took a flyer with a kilometer to go. The Columbia train wasn't to be denied this day. Vogondy ended up 21st.
And here's the result, Columbia's Mark Cavendish delivers the goods.
Thor Hushovd's 4th place was good enough to give him the Green Jersey.
