Story of the Tour de France

2009 Vuelta a España
August 29 - September 20, 2009

Pictures from Fotoreporter Sirotti, August 28. Team presentations and below them a few pictures of the rider practice session at Assen, Netherlands.

The Astana team. That's Vinokourov, second from the left.
Garmin-Slipstream
Ivan Basso (rider on far right) is hoping for a better Vuelta than his 2009 Giro.
Saxo with 4 national champion's jerseys.
Silence-Lotto. Cadel Evans (rider on far left) is also hoping for a Vuelta of redemption.
Cervelo. Sorry the photo is back-lit and causing the rider's faces to be washed out.
And of course we can't forget Columbia.
At the presentation were 2 of the greats. On the left is Jan Janssen, winner of the 1968 Tour de France. Franco Bitossi (1968 Tour points winner), admiring Janssen's complete arsenal of abilties, said Janssen was a "magician", who could do anything on a bike. The man on the right is Joop Zoetemelk, Tour winner in 1980 and second an astonishing 6 times.

Alejandro Valverde goes out for a spin.
Liquigas out for test ride with, I believe, Fabian Cancellara from the Saxo squad.
