Philip Deignan leads Roman Kreuziger by the castle of Avila.
A long time later the GC boys came by. I think that's Daniele Bennati leading Valverde, Evans and Basso.
Deignan has the suds and Kreuziger can't answer.
A fine day for the Irish. Erin go bragh.

Standing between Valverde and his permanent possension of the golden jersey is tomorrow's mountain stage (3 category 1 climbs, but not a hilltop finish) and Saturday's time trial. Oh, and there's that messy Operacion Puerto doping thing going on that could leave him stripped of the Vuelta victory if it ends up going against him.

But mentioning that would be rude and make me the skunk at the picnic.
