Here's the Cadel Evans group with Tadej Valjavec leading, then Evans and Alejandro Valverde on his left, then Ivan Basso in green.
Here's the moment. David Moncoutie (Cofidis, in red) has taken off, looking for a solo win. Damiano Cunego jetted after him and is just about to fly by.
Valjavec crosses the line for 7th with Basso on his wheel. Hidden is Ezequiel Mosquera. The Garmin rider is Tom Danielson having a great day in the mountains.
Great Dutch Hope Robert Gesink left the others and came in third.
Moncoutie, a former Great French Hope, took an admirable second.
The Little Prince blew the doors of the field. what a ride!
