Story of the Tour de France

August 29 - September 20, 2009

Pictures sent by Fotoreporter Sirotti from Stage 2: Sunday, Aug 30, Assen - Emmen, 203.7 km

Back to 2009 Vuelta page

Sirotti caught a few riders before the start. Here's race leader Fabian Cancellara.
World road champion Alessandro Ballan.
Cadel Evans remains well placed, within a second of the contenders.
Here they come. The light blue jersey is Gerald Ciolek of Milram. To his right is Tom Boonen and on his left is Liquigas' Fabio Sabatini.
Roger Hammond (Cervelo) has moved up as has Andre Greipel (Columbia).
The sprint turned out to be a race bewteen Ciolek and Sabatini as they both throw their bikes.
It's really close, but Ciolek gets it. This picture copyright Unipublic.
