Back to 2010 Tour de France

Photos from Stage 6, Friday July 9: Montargis - Gueugnon, 227.5 km

Here's today's sprint, step by step.

Sage 6 sprint

Columbia has put Cavendish perfectly in place. At this point it's a drag race with Petacchi (purple and blue, center).

Cavendish pulls ahead of Petacchi. Barely visible behind Cavendish is Tyler Farrar, too far back to threaten Cavendish with the finish line so close.

Cavendish clearly has it and Farrar is still on his wheel.

Cavendish has shut down but clearly Farrar is moving faster than anyone else at this point.

From this angle one can see that Farrar was really in the hunt. He has to feel that his day is coming. I sure do.

Now...On to the Alps.
