Story of the Tour de France

2009 Tour de France
July 4 - July 26, 2009

Pictures from Fotoreporter Sirotti for Stage 21, Sunday, July 26: Montereau Fault Yonne - Paris Champs-Élysées, 164 km

Back to 2009 Tour Page.

When it looked like Garin was going to control the lead-out Hincapie brilliantly pulled his team across the road at the last minute and then released Mark Renshaw who dragged Cavendish well away from the field. Cavendish knew what to do next.
Armstrong (black sox) and Contador just stayed out of trouble.
Astana took the team GC prize.
Franco Pellizotti took the climbers' prize.
Best Young Rider as well as second place in the GC makes a nice haul for Andy Schleck.
Sixth place in today's stage nailed the Green Jersey for Thor Hushovd.
That makes 4 Grand Tours for young Mr. Contador.
Everybody is already buzzing about next year. What team will have the right combination of money and rider support in stage races to tempt Contador?
