Story of the Tour de France

2009 Tour de France
July 4 - July 26, 2009

Pictures from Fotoreporter Sirotti for Stage 9, Sunday, July 12: Saint-Gaudens - Tarbes, 160.5 km

Back to 2009 Tour Page.

The winning break. Franco Pellizotti leads Pierrick Fedrigo.
Rinaldo Nocentini gets to keep his Yellow Jersey over the rest day. The Astana rider behind him with the black sox is Armstrong.
Armstrong (black sox) is showing none of the discomfort on the climbs he displayed in the Giro. He said he could have gone with Contador in stage 7 but team discipline kept him back in the chase group.
It's a shame we don't get to see the advertising caravan on TV.
This was the Tour's last day in the Pyrenees.
Pierrick and Pellizotti didn't screw around when they got close to the finish and let the pack catch them. They worked together until the end. Here Fedrigo just beats Pellizotti.
And here Oscar Freire wins the field sprint.
