The race: winner Benoît Cosnefroy's Team Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale posted this:
"We had to be patient during this Tour du Finistère. The team took responsibility right from the start of the race with Oscar (Chamberlain). Then we decided not to ride any more because there weren't many of us in the peloton, and other teams took over. Circumstances dictated that we went for the win when there was a very strong breakaway. In the final, things went really well with Tom (Donnenwirth) throwing me off in the last kilometer. I was able to maneuver well in the sprint to win. Brittany is going well for me after winning the Grand Prix du Morbihan last week. I'm leading the French Cup, which is good news. It's not necessarily a goal, but it's races like this that will allow me to be high up in the rankings, so I'm happy about that." - Benoît Cosnefroy

While Valentin Paret-Peintre was one of the Giro d'Italia's great animators of the day, two riders from the Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale team finished in the top 10 of stage 8: Ben O'Connor in third place and Alex Baudin in tenth. I'm really happy with the way the stage went," said the Australian. The team was very strong, and I was always surrounded by my team-mates. I gave it my all for the final sprint. I followed Daniel Martinez's wheel, trying to find an opening to overtake him. Third place is a good result for a Giro finish at altitude. I hope I can do even better next time.
In the overall standings, Ben O'Connor consolidates his fourth place and Alex Baudin, now the first Frenchman, moves up to thirteenth.
