The race stopped midway while Di Luca delivered an apology to the crowd. This is the view from the back of the peloton.
Giro Boss Angelo Zomagnan was not amused. He felt the strike unfairly singled out his race when other races like Amstel Gold were at least as dangerous.
Racing began on the final lap. Columbia delivered a perfect leadout to Cavendish.
Cavendish delivers the goods.
