In the closing kilometers this move looked promising. Front the far left, Gasparotto, Gilbert and Pozzato. They were caught by a peloton that would not be denied its sprint finish.
Leonardo Scarselli left the peloton at the first intermediate sprint and stayed away for over 120 kilometers.
Petacchi (white jersey) has made his move and Cavendish (pink) is trying to play catch up
Cavendish is closing in on Petacchi.
Petacchi has out-smarted his younger rival. The sprint stages in this Giro are going to be a lot of fun.
