Story of the Tour de France

2008 Giro D'Italia
May 10 - June 1, 2008

Pictures by Fotoreporter Sirotti from Wednesday, May 28: Stage 17, Sondrio - Locarno, 146 km.

World Champion Paolo Bettini (in white and rainbow) picked the wrong line in the corner and was forced to brake, ruining his chances in the sprint.

High Road lights up the jets for the sprint. Notice that Alberto Contador (in Pink) has positioned himself well to the front in the sprint in order to avoid trouble.

Astana stayed very close to Contador, who has Leipheimer right on his wheel. I just noticed the pink handlebar tape on Contador's bike and red on Leipheimer's. Nice touch.

Mark Cavendish eased slightly in the final meters to allow his leadout man, Andre Greipel, to take the stage win.
