Leonardo Piepoli leads Riccardo Ricco, Alberto Contador and Danilo Di Luca up the Pietransieri, the penultimate climb.

On the final climb Ricco (in Yellow) and Di Luca (in white) have dropped Piepoli and Contador.

Di Luca (The Killer) beats Ricco (The Cobra) for fifth.

Meanwhile Gabriele Bosisio has dropped his breakaway companions and has earned an excellent stage victory.
